Heavy rain triggers flash floods in J&K's Ramban, 3 dead and over 100 rescued

Jammu and Kashmir: Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir was badly hit by a major disaster when flash floods ravaged the area, claiming three lives and causing widespread damage. The flood also caused landslides and mudslides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, forcing it to be shut down. Hundreds of travelers were stuck as the highway, which acts as a connection between Kashmir and the rest of the nation, was badly affected.

Rescue efforts underway

The flash floods attacked the Seri Bagna village and claimed the lives of two brothers. Rescue efforts are still in progress in the village, with the authorities doing their best to rescue those trapped. It has been reported that approximately 40 houses were destroyed in the Dharam Kund village, and more than 100 villagers have been rescued by the police.

Government takes action

The government has moved fast to act on the disaster. A high-ranking official said the situation is being watched closely and an assessment will be done to extend aid to the affected people. Saving lives is the utmost concern.

Highway closure causes disruption

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was blocked by landslides and mudslides, disrupting traffic seriously. People have been asked to postpone their travel on the highway until the weather condition improves and the road is clear.
